Brainstorm Blog #3

For this project I really want to make something inspired by Alice in Wonderland, Narnia, Coraline, and The Lorax. I want to utilize the idea of going through a doorway or some kind of portal into another dimension/another world. I like the Coraline sequence of her going through the tunnel so I think that’s where I’m going to draw most of my inspiration for the transport into the new world. I also really like creatures and plant life in The Lorax and pretty much anything by Dr. Seuss so I want to create some kind of fantastical dimension like that with wild looking plants and animals. I’m most likely going to create all of those things in Photoshop and then animate them to give them a little movement in After Effects. I’m planning on trying to use lots of color but it will depend on how much time allows for. I also want it to be somewhat cartoony since I love shows like Regular Show, Gravity Falls, and Bojack Horseman. In order to portray this style, I want my character to transform into a cartoon/animated form in the new dimension. I also want to have some kind of trippy montage (somewhat inspired by the Beavis and Butthead clip we watched in class). I might have the character eat a plant like in the clip or have some other mechanism for ingesting some kind of inter-dimensional drug.
